Red Grouper - Epinephelus morio
Family Serranidae, SEA BASSES AND GROUPER
Description: Light or rusty red with whitish spots and large blotches. No black mark on caudal peduncle fleshy area between tail and posterior dorsal fin.
Similar fish:
Where found: Close inshore to ledges and wrecks up to 300 feet deep. Majority between 10 to 100 feet.
Size: 1 to 10 pounds, up to 40 pounds at maximum.
Remarks:
Florida record: 42 pounds, 4 ounces.

Comments: One of the toughest fighting Groupers.
Must remain in whole condition until landed ashore (heads and tails intact)
