Yellowfin Grouper - Mycteroperca venosa
Family Serranidae, SEA BASSES AND GROUPER
Description: Has various colors, including two major phases, making it difficult to tell it apart from Black Grouper, save for the bright yellow trim on its pectoral finds.
Overall bright red with dark red or brown box shaped blotches, and the yellow pectorals. In both phases yellow may be obvious on other fins as well.
Similar fish: Black Grouper
Where found: Reef habitat, much like the Black Grouper
Size: Up to 15 pounds is common.

Florida record: 34 pounds, 6 ounces.
