Scamp - Mycteroperca phenax
Family Serranidae, SEA BASSES AND GROUPER
Description: Coloration is a deep tan or chocolate brown, with numerous darker markings that form dots or groups of lines. Elongated rays of the caudal fin give a broomtail appearance.
Similar fish: Yellowmouth Grouper
Where found: Generally stucks to deep reefs and ledges.
Size: Normally under 10 pounds, can get larger than 20.
Remarks:
Florida record: 25 pounds, 4 ounces.

Size Limit: 20" Atlantic and Monroe County - 16" Gulf (excluding Monroe county)
Season:
Bag Limit: Included within 5 per person per day Grouper aggregate bag limit.
Comments: Must remain in whole condition until landed ashore (heads and tails intact)
