Striped Mullet "Black Mullet" - Mugil cephalus
Family Mugilidae, MULLETS
Description: Head rounded with small mouth, and rubbery lips and a forked tail. Color is dark above, either gray or brown. White or light gray below. Longitudinal stripes generally quite noticeable.
Similar fish: White Mullet "Silver Mullet"
Where found: Shallow costal waters, does roam into fresh water.
Size: About 1 to 3 pounds.
