Cubera Snapper - Lutjanus cyanopterus
Family Snapper
Description: Looks like a large Gray snapper at first. Check the patch of vomerine teeth on the inside of the mouth. The gray will have a patch of teeth shaped like an arrow. A Cubera will have a similar shape, but with no shaft. Looks more like an inverted V.

Where found: South Florida.
Size: Often reach or exceed 100 pounds. The largest of snappers.

Florida record: 116 pounds.

Size Limit: Not less than 12" ore more than 30" See remarks
Season:
Bag Limit: Included within 10 person per day snapper aggregate bag limit if under 30"
Comments: Allowed 2 Cubera Snapper over 30" per day per person or vessel per day, which ever is less. 30" or larger not included within the Snapper aggergate bag limit.
Must remain in whole condition until landed ashore (heads and tails intact)
