Mutton Snapper - Lutjanus analis
Family Lutjanidae, SNAPPERS
Description: Mutton Snapper colors also vary greatly depending on size and its habitat. Juveniles tend to be very bright with a rosy hue with mostly red fins. Adults tend to be greenish above, and red on the lower sides and underside. All have blue line in the gill cover and along the back with a single black spot near the dorsal fin. Anal fin is pointed.

Where found: South Florida. Juveniles can be found in grass beds, adults inhabit deeper reefs, though many are found by nearshore deep channels.
Size: Average size is about 1 to 2 pounds. Deep water push upwards of 5 pounds.
Remarks: Strong fighters in deep water.
Florida record: 30 pounds, 4 ounces.
