Destin Fishing Report 2-16-25
We only had a few boating days this week. Sunday and Monday. So some of other days did show some activity from the pier and surf.
We saw rough seas, wind, and some rain. It was nice that the temps felt like spring (fake spring) but this week we sort of go back to winter. Should not be below freezing, but some mornings will be in the 30’s mid week.
Bottom Fishing
The Silver King had a spectacular winter catch of black snapper, red grouper, and mingo snapper last Sunday. Also had a couple scamp. The only thing really missing was some amberines.
Pier Fishing
Great bonita run on Saturday, other days saw flounder and pompano.
Surf Fishing
Pompano were back to biting this week. Some whiting, a few black drum and most of those were very large.
Offshore Trolling
Several nice wahoo when the seas permitted and a few tuna around the fads.
Bay Fishing
Sheepshead are beginning to pick up around bridges, jetties, and old growth docks. There were a few juvenile grouper around the Destin bridge. You may catch one while sheepshead fishing. Please be careful and make sure you release these guys unharmed as those are our future offshore grouper.
