Destin Fishing Report 6-15-25
When you’re wrong you just have to admit it. I told quite a few people this would be a slow snapper week with the full strawberry moon. Well nope. It was overall a pretty good week on the snapper even though they were spawning.
Bait was easier than normal for a full moon also and that was a bonus. Maybe it was the cloudy nights that helped.
The biggest issue of the week was dodging lightening, wind, rain, and waterspouts a few of the days if you picked the wrong area to fish. Pick the right area and no problem. My luck I picked the wrong area today and also last Monday!
Nearshore Trolling
The kings and mahi have both returned to the near shore reefs and wrecks. Tarpon along the east beaches where ever water is cleaner was pretty darn good
Pier Fishing
Kings, mahi, and tarpon were all on the menu this week. The tiger sharks have returned to feed on tarpon and you know that means! Cobia should be around the next couple weeks to clean up on the remnants.
Bottom Fishing
This could be considered great or terrible depending on who you talk to. I know anglers who killed it on the full moon and then others that struggled. Mingos and red grouper seemed pretty good and a good number of black snapper chumming and fishing light gear up in the water.
Surf Fishing
Search out some clean water areas and you will still find pompano and spanish.
Offshore Trolling
Very hit or miss with the dirty water conditions unless you want to make the 90-100 mile run to true blue water.
Bay Fishing
If you're willing to put in the time and effort to cast net menhaden and greenies in the bayous you will find the trout and reds quite willing to take them drifting the flats or fishing deep water docks
