Destin Fishing Report 6-22-25
Well after weeks or maybe months of winds and seas, we finally got a small break this week and had some nice days.
This along with getting past the moon sure has done wonders for the fishing in general for all species. That along with the current easing up gave us a good week of fishing.
Pier Fishing
Some very good runs of tarpon. There are kings in the mornings and afternoons. Lots of bull reds.
There are also spanish, hardtails, and quite a few bonita on the stormy days.
Bottom Fishing
Snapper seem to have moved back to structure and wrecks rather than natural bottom.
Vermillion snapper seem ravenous. Still too many tiny red grouper. Saw quite a few people with banded rudder fish.
Chumming the black snapper has been very good.
Nearshore Trolling
Kings were plentiful on the broken bottom, southeast rocks, 18’s, and Nicky grounds.
Several people caught and released sailfish and lots of bonita.
There was also an uptick in the spanish around the pass.
Offshore Trolling
The local boys did great in the San Destin Tournament. Several boats had 4-5 releases on blue marlin. 5 were brought to the scales the largest being over 500lb.
Wahoo, tuna, and mahi showed in good numbers, but you had to make it the 105 miles to the pretty water.
Surf Fishing
When you find clean water to fish there are pompano, hardtails, redfish, and plenty of sharks. Sand fleas and shrimp are the best baits.
Bay Fishing
The trout and reds are fired up if you're willing to cast net some menhaden in the bayous. Take those to the flats or the docks around the mouth of the bayous that have deep water access.
