Summer has come and gone and now we start looking to fall fishing! White marlin, black fin tuna, flounder and the return of pompano in the surf will be some of the new targets. We will also be looking to the 70th annual Destin Fishing Rodeo going.
Kings are biting over natural bottom and reefs, trolling plugs and live baits. Blackfin are starting to show up and the Bonita are still biting.
As mentioned earlier the white marlin have started to bite, of course the usual suspects od black fin tuna, yellow fin tuna and wahoo.
Amberjack are the prime targets, fish live bait and jigs in 180-350ft depths. Since the store the grouper bite has improved and good numbers on the scamp. Mingo snapper on most reefs and natural bottom, the best action is in water over 125ft deep.
Deep Drop Bottom Fishing
Saw some pretty catches of tile fish, snowy grouper and a few daytime swordfish this week.
If you fish very early and very late each day and then in the evenings under the dock lights there are some trout and reds to be had. They have also started gigging some flounder
Kings and Spanish are on and off, they are best on the days we have a steady breeze. Seems to be plenty of ladyfish, hardtails and some blues.
Not a lot but a few pompano, sharks are abundant and plenty of hardtails, small jacks and ladyfish.
