PC/PCB Fishing Report 10-14-24
St Andrews State Park boat ramp is still closed due to new construction in that area of the park so no loading or launching of boats continues for an unspecified time.
Bay Fishing
A lot of small trout are out on the flats and being very cooperative. Not long ago there were a lot of big trout being reported, but we have had some interesting weather for the last 2 weeks. Find the bait out on the flats and you will find the fish.
There are schools of hungry reds cruising around and eating heavily. Look for grass flats near deep water on a rising tide.
The pass also holds a lot of redfish in October and can produce with a moving tide. Live bait drifted just off the bottom is a great choice.
There are some spanish mackerel, bluefish, and mangrove snapper also working the pass area at times.
Surf Fishing
It was getting decent and suddenly, many found more trash fish like catfish, remora, and stingrays at times. The key is to spend time out there and you will get the pompano, redfish, and whiting. There are a lot of slot redfish that are working, but many are lower slot. It is best to return those and get one a bit bigger.
There are a lot of ghost shrimp holes out there in the shallows and they should be easy to catch. Make sure you have some Magic Thread to hold them on the hook. Over the bar near a cut has been best, but there have been some fish cruising in close at times.
Early has been much better than later. The high tides are switching from morning to evenings this week so the evening bite should get much better later in the day.

Bottom Fishing
Very good to excellent. Amberjack, red snapper, mangrove snapper, triggerfish, and vermillion are all cooperating and are in a bit closer. Have a flat line out with a live bait for king mackerel if you are bottom fishing.
There have been king mackerel and some blackfin tuna being caught as well.
Nearshore Trolling
There have been a number of king mackerel caught by most trying to get them. It is a great time to target them. Early is best.
Be prepared for some blackfin tuna! There have been a bunch caught and they have ranged from smallish to jumbos and all sizes in between.
Spanish mackerel are feeding too. There have been a lot of them caught as well. Especially closer to the sandbars.
Offshore Fishing
To put it in a few words, it is really hot right now. Marlin, mahi, tuna, swordfish, and others, but not a lot on wahoo. We have had some sketchy seas of late so it should steadily improve.
Reports have the FAD’s holding fish, especially mahi.
