PC/PCB Fishing Report 6-24-24
Surf Fishing
Well, that was a rough week! Huge seas and wind made the fishing tough!
Thankfully conditions are improving. We should have some weather that is very fishable this week. Late might be better than early in the short-term due to coming off the full moon.
Expect to see pompano, bluefish up to 10 lbs, redfish, some whiting, and spanish mackerel this week. Small sharks are very common this time of year as well.
Fish-N-Mate Rake and Spike Carrier
This easy to attach accessory will make your next trip to the beach a whole lot easier! This Rake and Spike holder fits 4 Fish-N-Mate Sand Spikes and a Fish-N-Mate Sand Flea Rake.
Bottom Fishing
The bite was tough for a LOT of spots, especially those on the shallower side. The full moon had anglers hopping from spot to spot.
This week should get better each day as we get away from the full moon.
All that said, the main bycatch was mahi found due to anglers moving around more! The consensus was find that one spot and load up quickly.
Red snapper, mangrove snapper, vermillion, scamp, and occasionally a cobia were also caught.
Nearshore Trolling
Last week was terrible. Stormy winds, waves were huge, and the bait was scattered out. It should settle in to the week nicely.
Anglers are using larger pogy style baits in light to white colors for tarpon off of the second sandbar. Live baits too.
Spanish and kings should be back outside the pass early if there is bait on the bouys.
Pier Fishing
Total bust last week, but this week will be better. Rough seas moved the bait out and strong seas remained. Bait should start returning and be more normal as the week goes on. This means later week will be better, but each day will improve as we get there.
Kings and tarpon are being caught on the end. Spanish are in a bit closer with bluefish as well. Some up to 10lbs on the blues!
Redfish, pompano, whiting, and small sharks are also being caught.
Bay Fishing
Everyone was looking for a “hidey-hole” to avoid the wind! This week we get back to normal!
Great fishing for trout, redfish, mangrove snapper, some spanish, and bluefish.
Fishing for trout under the dock lights is so relaxing and productive!
Redfish are again in the shallows on rising water, as well as cruising the flats. Bigger ones are generally at the bridges and the pass.
Offshore Fishing
Very poor week with massive seas. Even the latest reports were not great. Once again, it should get better as the week moves on ending with the Baypoint Billfish Tournament.
Thursday is the kickoff party to get it started!
