Destin Fishing Report 10-5-25
We are nearing the midway point of the Destin Fishing Rodeo. Due to weather, there is plenty of room for improvement in almost every division and every species.
We should have good weather through most of the week before the next front arrives Friday - Sunday being wind and seas for the weekend.
You should take advantage of the next few days and make your way to the leader board.
Bait has returned to the pass and was easy over the weekend so that should not be a problem.
Offshore Trolling
This has been a quiet part of the fishing report for a few weeks with weather not really allowing anglers to get to the fish. Cooler temps are lowering gulf temps and the fish are on fire. There have been more wahoo caught this week than in the past several.
Some good mahi and blackfin tuna at the fads. Out to the rigs on overnight trips we have seen several boat returning with double digit catches of yellowfin tuna. Not mentioned yet are the blue marlin catch and releases around the fads. Pretty water is almost pushing to the edges.

Nearshore Trolling
Some of the most consistent king mackerel fishing of the year.
Loads of bonita and consistent catches of blackfin tuna on the desoto rocks, knuckle, and southwest edge.

Bottom Fishing
The recreational fisherman found some very good red snapper action this weekend.
The triggerfish have been pretty aggressive and some good sized ones.
The normal supply of mingo snapper, black snapper, and scamp have been active for the most part.

Pier Fishing
A couple tuna, kings, spanish, and reds this week.
Lots of smaller jack cravelle for the kids to have fun with.

Bay Fishing
Plenty of bull reds around the bridges and pass. Roe mullet are moving in good numbers.
The flats are producing trout and some reasonable action on black snapper.

Surf Fishing
Surprisingly we are still plagued in some areas by June grass. It looked like it was moving out and then moved back in some areas.
Search for clean water and the pompano will bite pretty good with the cooler temps. Fair numbers on the whiting.
