Destin Fishing Report 3-2-26
Triggerfish opens today and the weather actually looks doable. That is a great way to kick off March.
We have a lot happening this week.
Tuesday evening at 6pm we will be teaching techniques for mingo and triggerfish at the showroom at Legendary Marine. If you want to dial in your bottom fishing game, this will be a good one.
Next Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the Emerald Coast Boat and Lifestyle Show at Pier Park in Panama City Beach. They will have the latest model boats at some of the best deals of the year. We will have all day seminars, plenty of food trucks, live music and family fun all weekend.
Also, come check out the new Shimano Ledge Runner Lures in the shop. They are starting to get some attention.
Bay Fishing
Ghost shrimp, fiddler crabs and live shrimp are what you will want if you are targeting sheepshead around the Destin Bridge and the jetties.
Trout opens today as well. Spanish mackerel have begun to show up, which is a sure sign things are changing.

Surf Fishing
Pompano are showing up in better numbers. They are biting sand fleas, fresh peeled shrimp, Fishbites and especially ghost shrimp.
We are loaded up with ghost shrimp pumps and can show you how to catch them yourself.

Costa Sunglasses
See What's Out There
Born on the water in 1983, Costa sunglasses are handcrafted for those who need the clearest view of the horizon. The world-class 580® lens technology filters out harsh yellow light to deliver unmatched contrast, color, and polarization for every life lived on the salt or the flats.
Pier Fishing
Squid most days. They did have one day where they caught around 15 Spanish, which was their best day yet.
We could see the first cobia or the first king mackerel any day now. It is March, and that usually means it is getting close.
Bottom Fishing
Triggerfish opening gives us another solid option to go along with mingo and black snapper. Boats are also getting good numbers of amberines, also known as banded rudderfish.

Offshore Trolling
Some of the nearshore FADs have had a few chicken mahi. FADs 5 and 6 are sitting in decent water and have produced a few wahoo and some larger mahi as well.

Deep Water Bottom Fishing
There is a lot of variety offshore right now. We have seen catches of snowy and yellowedge grouper, a few swordfish, tilefish and some queen snapper.
All of this is exciting news and is a strong sign that the spring warm up is on the way. Eddies are starting to push better water in from the Loop Current, and that usually means things are about to get good.
