Destin Fishing Report 8-31-25
For the next 14 days we will have a bonus treat. We will have red snapper, gag grouper, amberjack and triggerfish all open at the same time.
There is talk that we could have an emergency closure on amberjack as they say we went over last year by 217%. They did close commercial and likely we will see a shortened season, but as of now it will open on the 1st.
Tuesday evening at 6pm we will be hosting our Blackfin Tuna seminar at Legendary Marine. As always it is free to attend and we will have free pizza and drinks.
We have been in one of the nicest stretches of weather of the entire summer except for today Sunday 31st. It has allowed anglers to have some really nice days. Unfortunately the next few days look pretty bumpy. It does appear it will settle down mid week.
Nearshore Trolling
During the week there were some nice catches of kings and mahi. Some bonita and a few sailfish as well.
It also appears we may have an early blackfin tuna season as a few have started to show up.

Offshore Trolling
Wahoo and white marlin were the bulk of the action.
A few mahi and a few blackfin were caught as well.

Bottom Fishing
Lots and lots of mingo snapper. A few triggers and plenty of black snapper in state waters if you chum them.

Pier Fishing
There were a few nice kings landed this week. Along with few spanish runs and some reds.
Expect the fall whiting run to turn on any day now.

Bay Fishing
The black snapper on the jetties has been good. Some around the coast guard station and docks.
Plenty of large jack cravelle around hog town bayou.
Bull reds around the Destin Bridge. Trout and reds were in the grass flats fishing live shrimp under a popping cork.

Surf Fishing
They did catch a few pompano and I have not heard nearly as many complaints about June Grass. Maybe it’s finally dying off.
Like pier fishing, the fall run of whiting should be on any day now.
