Navarre Fishing Report 6-18-23
Recent weather conditions have impacted fishing, with very bad weather experienced over the past few days. However, here's an overview of the fishing situation in different areas:
Surf Fishing
The surf fishing conditions in Navarre have been affected by an abundance of June grass, which has made fishing challenging for many anglers. As a result, fishing reports from the surf have been limited. When conditions improve, focus on clear patches of water and target areas near sandbars or troughs for species like pompano, whiting, and redfish. Fresh shrimp, sand fleas, or artificial baits such as FishBites or Fishgum are recommended for attracting bites when the grass clears.
Pier Fishing
The Navarre pier continues to offer exciting opportunities for anglers. Spanish mackerel have been a reliable target, providing action for those casting fast-retrieved spoons and shiny Got-Cha Plugs. Although tarpon sightings have been limited, a few lucky anglers have encountered them. Live mullet and large swimbaits have been effective in enticing strikes from these majestic fish. Additionally, the pier has seen a lot of activity from bonita, ensuring plenty of action for those targeting them. Casting spoons or Got-Chas into schools of feeding bonita has been a successful technique.
Inshore Fishing
Despite the challenging weather, anglers have managed to find success targeting trout and redfish in the sound. Anglers using live shrimp, soft plastic baits, and topwater lures have reported positive results. Focus your efforts around grassy flats, particularly during early mornings and late afternoons.
While the recent weather conditions have posed challenges, the fishing prospects in Navarre remain promising. Be sure to check local regulations, secure the necessary fishing licenses, and practice responsible angling techniques. As the weather improves, take advantage of the diverse fishing opportunities that Navarre has to offer. Stay safe, and may your next fishing trip be rewarding!
