Red Snapper opens for recreational anglers in the gulf on June 16th!
Surf Fishing:
Pompano continue to be the primary target for surf anglers in Navarre. While the numbers may be less abundant, there are still opportunities to hook into these prized fish. Fishgum, FishBites, and sand fleas have all proven effective.
Pier Fishing:
Both Bonita and Ladyfish are being caught. They are attracted to fast-moving lures. The Rapala X-Rap Saltwater Fishing Lure is a great option. Its realistic finishes and aggressive swimming action make it a favorite among pier anglers.
Bluefish and Hardtails have also been regular catches from the pier.
Some Pompano, have been caught and pompano jigs in various colors and sizes have highly effective.
Both Red and Black Drum have been caught from the pier and can be targeted using fresh or frozen shrimp.
Bay Fishing:
People have been catching Redfish and Trout in the bay along with some Jack Crevalle.
For targeting Redfish in the bay, try using the Z-Man Trout Eye Jighead paired with Z-Man DieZel Minnowz Soft Plastic Baits. The jighead provides excellent hooksets, while the soft plastic bait mimics a natural baitfish, enticing Redfish to strike.
To entice Trout in the bay, try the MirrOlure MirrOdine Suspending Twitchbait. This lure has a lifelike action and suspends in the water column, making it irresistible to hungry Trout.
Jack Crevalle are known for their hard-hitting strikes. The Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow Floating Lure is an excellent choice to catch these powerful fish. Its flashy design and erratic action will trigger aggressive bites.
