PC/PCB Fishing Report 12-12-25
Bay Fishing
Last week was awful with constant rain and a lot of it! Many areas in the northern parts of the bays are probably off a bit on the salinity with all the rainy days. Lower areas closer to the pass that have had sometime to flush some of that out are likely going to be better.
The pass has continued to produce. A jig worked around the jetties with a live fiddler crab, or live shrimp should find some action fairly quickly. Recent catches include redfish, mangrove, some pompano, and some permit. There should be some flounder pushed down near the pass as well.

Surf Fishing
There were some pompano, whiting, and redfish caught this week. If you can find a hole inside the first sandbar it should produce whiting especially, but redfish and pompano are in the mix too. There are still a number of annoying catfish in the mix as well.
Peeled shrimp or ghost shrimp seem to be the best bait currently. Early and late are best times generally.
If you go, be prepared to bundle up and have some wind resistance in your clothing or you will get cold quickly!

Pier Fishing
There were not a lot of reports, but there were some really awesome catches of whiting and some redfish caught in close.
Once again peeled shrimp are the ticket. Take plenty so you do not run out since if they turn on, you can get a bucket full of whiting!

Bottom Fishing
There have been a lot of red grouper very close inshore. There are shorts mixed in with keepers so if you get on them work throught the small ones. The vermillion bite is good as well, just not as close in as we would like. 100ft or deeper will increase your chances and yield larger fish generally.
Back to inshore, with all the rain that came down, we might want to check some of the near the pass wrecks looking for flounder. The salinity in the bay should be down due to the 6+” of rain!
The red snapper has been good as well. Winds are predicted to relax a bit until Sunday and them blow into part of Monday and laydown again until later Wednesday into Thursday.
RED SNAPPER OPEN DATES REMAINING:
December: 12-14,19-21,25-28

Nearshore Trolling
Not many reports this week, but if you just want to troll setup and troll down the beach in close inside and outside the outer sandbar. Pay attention to any surf anglers and keep a good distance from their spread.
Use a spanish mackerel type of set up and maybe keep something to cast incase you run into a big school. If you keep them, bleed them out for a better taste. A good way to do this and decrease the mess is to run your livewell and drop them in there once bleeding starts. After a couple of minutes or so put them in the cooler. Eating the fresh and bled spanish is actually very tasty.

Offshore
Rinse and repeat and repeat again, especially the rinse part from all the rain! Same as last week, except this wind and rain has contiued shutting it down for a bit, when it settles, we should be right back at it!
While reports are limited, there have been catches of wahoo, blackfin tuna, mahi, and several credible secondhand accounts of good marlin.
