PC/PCB Fishing Report 9-15-25
Bay Fishing
The water has been warm and yeah, you can get fish in the shallows, but they may be out a bit deeper. Especially the trout. Some customers have reported success into the day by putting small jigs down deep where the flats drop off decently. They said they struggled to get any good fish in the shallow hot water on some beautiful finger mullet they were free lining. Once they changed tactics to the jigs and the deeper drop it was game on.
There are also redfish around the bridge. The outgoing tide is good all morning and into the afternoon and that is generally the better setup.
Mangrove snapper are definitely working the jetty rocks. Spanish mackerel and some decent bluefish are in the pass as well as the old reliable redfish.

*BRAND NEW* Ghost Shrimp FishBites
Get 'em while they're hot! We now have Ghost Shrimp FishBites to pair with your bait.
In May they handed out samples to try that were actually early batches. Reports were excellent. They tweaked and improved a few things and now you absolutely should be using some on your next fishing trip to the beach.
Surf Fishing
The June grass has either been an issue, or it is not. The east end has been fairly clear, but middle to west on the beaches has been bad. If your area is clear, there are decent fish being caught.
There have been some good catches of pompano and the whiting are starting to show in better numbers. Find a clear area for you best chance of success.
Live sandfleas, peeled shimp, and fresh FishBites have been the successful baits. There have been some catches of spanish mackerel by those wading out to the first bar and fan casting early and late. A popper, soft plastic, or a heavy spoon are your best bets on lures. Make sure they have enough weight for a loner cast.

Fish-N-Mate Rake and Spike Carrier
This easy to attach accessory will make your next trip to the beach a whole lot easier! This Rake and Spike holder fits 4 Fish-N-Mate Sand Spikes and a Fish-N-Mate Sand Flea Rake.
Pier Fishing
There were some kings caught this past week. One topped the scale at over 30 lbs. That might be one of the fall early arrivers. Soon we should be seeing more big kings for the fall run.
The spanish mackerel were good at times and there have also been some pompano spotted and some caught. They are of a decent size in the 14" – 16” range. Redfish have been caught too. Mostly over slot so they have to go back carefully for survival.

Bottom Fishing
It has been a great 2 week run with all the species open. Nice boxes of fish with great varieties bagged.
We now go back to weekends only for red snapper and gag grouper are now closed.
Amberjack are still open through Halloween. Red grouper and triggerfish are open through the end of the year.

Reamaining Red Snapper Days:
September 19-21, 26-28
October 3-5, 10-12, 17-19, 24-26, 31
Novemeber 1-2, 7-9, 11, 14-16, 21-23, 27-30
December 5-7, 12-14, 19-21, 25-28
Nearshore Trolling
Trolling and flatlining for kings is getting better. Most have been out chasing the 2 week bottom species season, but that gets cut back some now.
There are some good kings starting to show up. We still have tons of bait, so look for that around structures especially early. The water is still warm so after the early morning you may have better results getting baits down deeper. Using 8oz to 16oz lead and trolling a dead cigar and duster is a time proven method to catch these fish. Use a short piece of 40lb wire and a 10 to 15 foot of 20lb fluorocarbon or mono leader to get more bites and better fish. Kings like it a little slower than the spanish mackerel so 4.5 to 5mph is as fast as you might want to go while trolling.
Remember, let the fish run for 4 or 5 seconds to get the bait in its mouth properly. As the fight gets going and the fish gets closer to the boat, lighten your drag because the fish will run when it sees the boat. Usually they do this 2 or 3 times before the gaff time comes.

Offshore
Few reports this week due to the 2 weeks of open season on most bottom species.
The Fads are reportedly holding some okay sized mahi, not huge. There have been a few more wahoo starting to show up closer and that should continue into the fall as the water cools.
Most of the really blue water is still out fairly far. There have been marlin, decent sized yellowfin, some wahoo, and some mahi. If you go after those, load up the fuel tanks!
