Destin Fishing Report 4-6-26
While we’ve officially stepped into spring, Mother Nature had other plans this week, bringing plenty of wind and rough seas to keep things interesting.

Bay Fishing
The bay bite stayed consistent:
• Spanish mackerel leading the charge
• Best areas: Cinco Bayou and Shalimar Bridge
• Some white trout and sheepshead mixed in
Surf Fishing
The surf is finally heating up!
• Pompano bite is steady along the beaches
• Best baits: sand fleas, fresh shrimp, and Fishbites
• Throw Gotcha lures or spoons to hook into Spanish from shore

Pier Fishing
It was a strong week on the pier!
• Pompano showed up in solid numbers, especially at sunrise and sunset
• Several days brought excellent Spanish mackerel runs
• Wednesday marked the first king mackerel of the year, with a few more following
• Friday saw a full-on jack crevalle blitz
Bottom Fishing
Weather limited opportunities, but those who made it out found:
• Vermilion snapper
• Triggerfish
• A few red grouper
Nearshore Trolling
One word: Spanish!
• Troll straw rigs with a planer for best results
• Focus areas: harbor, Destin Bridge, and just outside the pass
• Action has been steady and fast-paced
Offshore Trolling
We are all excited to see the new fads are already producing some mahi. A few boats reported spotting some tuna but no bites.
Spring is starting to show itself, once the weather settles, expect things to really take off. Tight lines and see y’all at the seminar!
