The weekend is upon us again and it's going to be a beautiful one. We have a cold front moving in Friday night which is going to bring us cooler day temps and chilly temps at night. Seas should be around 2 to 4 feet with strong winds coming out of the north. I don't know about you all, but we sure are glad to be having this front coming in.

 

The pier has been slowing down a bit with mainly spanish and bonita being caught. Maybe with these cool temps coming in, we will see some Sheepshead activity. We have plenty of fiddler crabs to help get them on your lines. Be sure to use light tackle and super small hooks so they don't turn their heads at your bait. Spanish and Bonita are being caught on Gotcha plugs, diamond jigs, and zman pearl flukes with 1 oz jig heads.

 

The surf is picking back up a little as long as the wind is blowing, the glassy days are making them not want to bite. Pompano, Whiting, Ladyfish, Remora, Lizardfish, Redfish, Black Drum, and plenty of Sea Robins are being reeled in. There are also some smaller Flounder running so you can try some white grubs or white fish bites and bounce them along the bottom to see if you can get one. You can get all the other species on Salty's pompano rigs and Fish Gum. You can also throw out some small casting spoons into any schools you see running the sandbars to see what you can catch.

 

The sound is where it all seems to be going down. Redfish are everywhere as well as plenty of trout and some jack crevalle. There are also some mangrove snapper and sheepshead hanging around the causeway or if you head on down to bob sikes bridge. If you decide to head to Bob Sikes, don't be surprised if you get yourself a Cowfish on your line, they seem to be having quite the appetite over there recently. Live shrimp is by far what the fish are biting on, but vudu shrimp with some shrimp procure is also getting the job done. If you don't want to fuss with any of that, grab you some gulp baits and throw it out under a popping cork on the grass flats, under docks, or hit the canals on the north side to see what you can get.
