Navarre Fishing Report 12-10-21
It's Friday! Sadly the weather isn't going to be too nice to us this weekend, but hey, the fish don't mind getting wet. If you go out on boat or kayak use caution from the stronger winds from the south today and tomorrow and from the northeast Sunday. Seas are going to stay a bit rough.
The pier has been bringing in bonita and flounder. Use white pearl flukes on 1 oz white jig heads to get in on those bonita. Going for flounder? We have live bull minnows that you can fish on a 1/0 sized circle hook carolina rig or use curl tail grubs on jig heads and bob them along the bottom to see if you can get them to bite. They are lazy fish, so be prepared to put in a little work to get them, but they are well worth it!
The surf has slowed down a bit, but that doesn't mean it's stopped. If you don't mind the rain this weekend, use some salty's pompano rigs with fish gum or fish bites. Whiting and pompano are still running with the occasional red or black drum moving through.
The inshore seems to be in more of a transition period. Fish migrating around in the water for better water temps. Trout will be hanging out more around the mouth of rivers or canals in the sound and up in east bay. use some top water plugs or gulp baits to get them fired up. The reds are moving more into the sound and not seen as much up in the bay. They are preferring live shrimp or minnows. Let them free swim or use small weights to catch their attention. These warmer days seem to have shut off the sheepshead, but Bob Sykes Bridge is still giving reports of getting them. Use some Bird of Prey sheepshead jigs with ghost shrimp or fiddler crabs to get them to bite.
The stripers are picking up in the rivers. Use live minnows around fallen logs or branches to get them on your line. They are around east river mouth, escambia river, blackwater river, and yellow river. They shouldn't be too hard to find, they are definitely hungry.
