Navarre Fishing Report 8-18-26
We’re definitely in the dog days of summer, but there are still plenty of fish around if you pick your time and place.
Pier
It’s starting to feel a little like Groundhog Day out there. Spanish mackerel and hardtails continue to be the most consistent players, with some redfish showing up as well. We also saw kings make an appearance when the south wind helped get things moving.
There’s plenty of bait around at times, so keep an eye on what’s happening instead of just watching the end of your rod.

Surf
The surf has probably been the biggest surprise lately. We’ve continued to see pompano caught despite it being the middle of August, with some redfish mixed in as well. Sand fleas and cut mullet have been doing the heavy lifting, with FishGum mixed in there too.
Clean water has been important, so don’t get married to one stretch of beach. If the water doesn’t look right or you’re not seeing any activity, make a move.

Sound & Pensacola Bay
The warmer water has the mangrove snapper bite going, and that has been one of the better options as the day progresses. Flounder reports are also hitting the shop this week. Speckled trout and redfish are still worth looking for, especially early before the heat really settles in.
The mangroves have actually been producing better later in the afternoon when the water gets a little rougher, so don’t automatically write off the afternoon bite.

Looking Ahead
Heat is going to continue to be a big part of the equation. Fish early when you can, pay attention to water quality and bait activity, and don’t be afraid to change plans when the conditions tell you to.
Most importantly, take plenty of water and stay hydrated. August heat on the beach, pier, or boat can sneak up on you quickly.
