PC/PCB Fishing Report 10-23-23
Surf Fishing
It was better here in Bay County earlier in the week. The storm slowed it down and it should improve based on reports to our West. Migrating pompano seem to be small schools and some singles. There are some really good sized ones and some shorts.
Redfish are around as well, both slot and overslot. Really scout the structure, (cuts, pockets, etc), to have your best chance.
Some whiting are showing as well.
Add an unusual number of permit were caught as well!
Near Shore Trolling
King mackerel have been good and they should continue. Weather of highs around 80 and lows around 60 should put water temps in the mid 70’s.
Blackfin tuna have been crashing the party as well.
Bottom Fishing
Everything seems to be cooperative - red snapper, grouper, vermilion, mangrove, etc. All that is goood news! Bigger vermillion seems to be out in 140-160ft.
Pier Fishing
The pier was good prior to the weather and has settled down after. Some kings, spanish, and redfish have all been caught.
Pompano should be showing this week with reports from our West. It is definitely a good time to enjoy great weather out there!
Bay Fishing
The fish are getting fat for the winter! Redfish are good on the flats, trout are as well.
The bridges and pass are holding good numbers of redfish. Most areas can be good now depending on the time of day and the tides.
Offshore Fishing
Blackfin tuna bonanza currently. Some yellowfin tuna, and some nice marlin. A 600 lb class marlin was brought in to Destin. Further to the West a monster 1,145 lb marlin was caught! Some wahoo and mahi as well. It is definitely a good time to go!
