Surf Fishing
The pompano bite in Bay County has been weird this year. To our West they have had very productive days. We have not had those nearly as much here. That said, it has gotten more consistent with most catching at least 1 or 2.
Redfish have started to show up in the surf too. Definitely some big redfish swimming in very close. Black drum are caught by a few as more of a bycatch.
Whiting are not super hot, but if you find them in pocket or hole you might get a bucket full of them.
Sand fleas are prevalent in the surf and are the primary bait. Tip those with some FishBites, or Fishgum.
There are some bluefish, ladyfish, and spanish in the surf at times. A long casting fast moving plug, or a popper can work. Poppers draw them in for an epic top water bite. Use a short piece of 40lb mono or florocarbon to prevent bite offs.

Bottom Fishing
Per Captain Eric Wilkas with Semper-Fi Charters, the vermillion bite is still great, but the quality ones are out past 110ft deep or a bit more. He also is catching nice amberjack too.
He mentioned to stay alert for cobia to make a show. He was on the lookout this past week and they got two cobia back to back!
There are still red grouper showing up very decently on some hard bottom areas.

Nearshore Trolling
The king mackerel bite is starting to really turn on! Many big spanish too! Outside the pass early and around bait schools will work.
Trolling out a bit further will work as well using diving plugs, trolling dead baits with heavy lead, planers, and downriggers. You might very well bag some blackfin tuna. Some over 30” are waiting for you!

Pier Fishing
King mackerel and big spanish mackerel are here and being caught!
Lures and live or dead bait rigged are working for the kings, and smaller cast and retrieve lures and plugs are working for the spanish. Things like Got-Cha plugs, heavier spoons, and lures with a fast twitching motion.

Bay Fishing
Redfish almost everywhere. Shallow schools, docks, drop-offs, near grass flats, bridges, and the pass. Pick your area and gear up!
The trout bite is doing really well early and late. After dark they are showing up under docks with lights close to the water.

Offshore Fishing
Wahoo are back, as well as some Mahi, and various tunes from blackfin to yellowfin and if you get lucky, a bluefin tuna!
Late week we have a weather system coming, but soon it will be flat. Get ready!
