Destin Fishing Report 4/28 - 5/10
Was swamped last week and never got the fishing report out but we have lots to talk about from last week and this week.
We have the Shimano Rod + Reel Tour at the store Saturday May 11th from 8-4 pm. Deals on Shimano Gear and Free with purchase items.
Bait has finally showed up around the pass and most days a good mix of cigar minnow, threadfin herring, hardtails and a few ly’s.

Bottom Fishing
Amberjack opened May 1st for the month and is off to a speedy start.
State waters produced quite a few keeper jacks on the larger steel structures and then much larger and nicer amberjack in deeper federal waters.
Mingos and triggers are still abundant and black snapper chumming improves with each passing day.

Nearshore Trolling
Kings and Mahi have both showed up in better numbers.
Kings around the sea buoy early in the day then on the broken bottom, southeast rocks, nicky grounds, and timber holes.
Mahi are holding on random grass patches and tide lines.

Pier Fishing
Good mix on the pier, some kings and cobia, plenty of spanish, pompano, hardtails, and reds.
Jack Crevalle have made several appearances at the pier

Surf Fishing
The pompano have slowed a little but still plenty of limits being caught.
This should be the case for the next month before the seaweed and June grass takes over the surf.
Quite a few jack crevalle and a few whiting.

Wahoo have become much more prevalent. Mahi, both chickens and flippers, are around the fads and offshore grass lines.
There has been some wonderful pushes of blue water, Check RipCharts or Hiltons foe locations of pretty water.
Over the last several weeks at least 4 bluefin tuna over 500lbs caught and landed.

There are snowy, yellow edge, and some barrel grouper in the junction boxes of the pipeline. On the steps south of Pensacola some very nice scamp action.
