PC/PCB Fishing Report 2-13-26
Bay Fishing
The trout have moved into the creeks and are gathering in certain bayous. We are in an early spring warming trend and that means the fish will start to move out in the shallows, especially the trout, but redfish too. There are some nice schools of redfish way up in the warm skinny water during the day looking for crabs, shrimp, or anything they can eat.
The bridges are holding sheephead and some decent numbers of white trout. There are also a varitety of species in the pass. Redfish, sheephead, bluefish, and maybe some spanish mackerel at times. The fish are not concentrated so much but scattered.
Please note that speckled trout season is closed throughout the month of February. That is midnight Saturday into Sunday.

Surf Fishing
There may be some really good times coming up this weekend for as good of a shot as you might get in February. Several factors are coming together and that usually leads to some success. The tides are right for an afternoon trip into early evening, sunny warmer days and night with lows around 50 or higher, and a front approaching over the weekend.
The water temperature has been surprisingly stuck at 59 degrees for days with sunshine. Perhaps is will go up? You can watch it or track it by searching “ PCBF1” and it will pop up. It is the NDBC weather station on the City Pier at Pier Park.
Redfish and black drum have been most common, but there has been an occasional pompano and some whiting are starting to come back as well. Peeled shrimp and FishBites are working for almost anything, but to up you odds for redfish, blackdrum, and perhaps bluefish, fish with at least one rod baited with our frozen finger mullet. Find those cuts in the bar and keep a short rod out in addition to longer rods

Pier Fishing
Squid at night are showing up so come in a get some squid jigs! There are still a lot of redfish and black drum being caught. There have also been spells of bluefish and a few spanish mackerel.
Water temps are stuck at 59 for the last several days, but with continued warmth it should begin to rise! Come on Spring!

Bottom Fishing
The weather was right for getting out in the boat. As a matter of fact, a new reef was deployed this week, it was an older barge. They only deploy those when conditions are fairly calm. Bay County Reef folks are doing great work for our area that will last for decades!
Those that went out were generally after vermillion snapper. There are a good number of red and gag grouper around and they can hit like a freight train. Live bait is best for those so keep some water in your livewell and while fishing you will probably catch a ruby red lip. If you do, drop it in the live well and get a few of them and then go after the grouper for a great fight. The red grouper are open, the gags are not.

Nearshore Trolling
Not much to report since it is colder.
Offshore
No reports, but there has been some talk of people looking for a weather window to go, but is seems we get all the wind and seas on the weekends lately. Perhaps we will have more information soon of the offshore bite!
