Navarre Fishing Report 11-27-23
We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and ate lots of good food!
Red snapper are officially closed and will not open back up until June.
Surf
The surf has been doing well with the pompano and whiting. They seem to be running a little further out closer to the second sandbar due to these cold fronts, but they are still there. You can try closer in as the day heats the water up a little closer in.
Green fish bites or green fish gum seems to be getting the job done. You can add a small piece of fresh shrimp or sand fleas and put the artificial bait over it, to hold it on the hook better. Sand fleas with the cold are going to also be a little harder to get since they are going down deeper.
Pier
The pier has slowed down a bit with mainly some spanish here or there and bonita. There were some blackfin caught, but no reports the past few days of those coming in. They seem to be staying further offshore near the reefs but we hope they come back in closer soon.
Bluefish are still running as well, so you can throw some Got-cha plugs, Z-Man flukes with a 1oz jighead, diamond jigs, or larger sized sabiki rigs. Be sure to use a heavier weight with the sabiki rigs so they won’t pop the rig up and tangle the whole thing.
Inshore
The inshore is doing great right now with the redfish. They seem to be on the move from around structure and the grass flats. Redfish don’t seem to be too picky right now, you can use live shrimp, frozen finger mullet, or even some soft plastics under a popping cork. Mirrodine suspending twitchbaits work great too.
Speckled trout have started to move into the rivers due to the colder water temps, but you can try around east river bridge to see if you can get some of them to bite as they move their way up.
Pass
If you head towards the Pensacola pass, there are plenty of bull reds running to give you a nice fight.
Spanish are also hanging around the pass and sheepshead are moving their way in but they haven’t seemed to want to bite yet. With these cold mornings coming in, try to get some ghost shrimp or fiddler crabs and see if they will take the bait.
If you get some ghost shrimp, be sure to get some magic thread to help them from coming off the hook.
